The 2008 Sea Otter Regatta was held on Monterey Bay October 11-12. Forty-seven teams raced, with 27 in the Gold fleet and 20 in the Silver fleet. Three high school teams (17 sailors) from Santa Barbara competed - Santa Barbara, Dos Pueblos and Laguna Blanca.

Saturday was consistently windy, steady 15 knots from the NW with up to 20 knot puffs and 6-8' swells. The race committee was able to get off 20 races for both fleets. On Sunday the winds started out light with flat seas and grew to 10 knots throughout the day - twelve races were completed on Sunday.

Congratulations to Pt. Loma HS for winning the Gold fleet and Corona del Mar JV2 for winning the Silver fleet. Santa Barbara HS finished 4th in Gold, Dos Pueblos was 15th and Laguna Blanca 24th. This was Laguna's first regatta as a newly formed team.
