Mission Bay, San Diego

On April 18 & 19, our three high school teams (Santa Barbara, Dos Pueblos and Laguna Blanca) traveled to San Diego for the High School Pacific Coast Championships (PCC's) held on Mission Bay.

It was an excellent weekend on several fronts as conditions were an idyllic 10-12 building to 15 knots each afternoon and everyone had a chance to sail-very little "riding the pine" in this one! Laguna Blanca's improvement over the course of the year was beginning to show and they will be a force to be reckoned next season. Dos Pueblos had a great regatta with everyone having a few top-ten finishes. Santa Barbara looked like a lock to finish in the top five and qualify to the National Championships after Saturday's sailing, but Sunday was unkind and SBHS came up just short.

With young squads across the board, the Santa Barbara area high school teams will be loaded with returnees next year. The future looks very bright indeed!
