The Santa Barbara Youth Sailing Foundation would like to
acknowledge some of the generous financial contributions
and other support we've received this year from the Santa
Barbara Yacht Club, the SBYCW, and individual members of
the SBYC.
As you may know, we are a non-profit organization and we
do rely on donations to help us with our mission of getting
kids out on the water.
This year, the SBYCW provided Summer Sailing Scholarships
to more than twenty kids, most of whom would have been unable
to participate otherwise. Most of those young sailors have
really taken to the sport, and five of them are currently
moving up the ladder towards our SBYSF Race Team!
We are also grateful for the SBYCW's contribution towards
our new 18' Boston Whaler coach boat, which has been on
our wish list for a long time and will be our main work
horse for the next decade or two.
In addition, we would like to thank Roger and Sarah Chrisman
for their generous support of youth sailing this year. The
Commodore and his wife split the cost of the new coach boat
with the SBYCW, and also provided most of the funds for
twelve new sets of practice sails for our CFJ fleet while
rallying a few other members to the cause (thank you, Charles
and Margo Browning!).
