Optimist Clinics for Beginners
Saturday mornings, 9:30-12:30
Dates: 9/25, 10/9, 10/30, 11/20, 12/4, 12/11
$25/clinic (3 or more, $20/clinic).
These 3.5-hour clinics will be scheduled once or twice a
month starting in late September. They will be intended for
sailors ages 8-12, who have limited or no sailing experience
and who want to learn the basics or start getting ready for
the next level. Sailors who started with us this past summer
in a Novice session may want to consider participating in
a few clinics before moving on to Green Fleet, as should Sea
Shell Novice and "C" skippers. Before moving on,
Novice Clinic participants should be able to demonstrate a
certain level of competence in rigging and sailing, as outlined
in our Novice Skills Development checklist.
Because the clinics will accommodate a range of skill levels,
we will plan to have at least two coaches on the dock (depending
on attendance). We will also be assisted by members of the
SBYSF Race Team.
